Service Description
Held through Wake Forest Center for Active Aging. Please follow the link to register: https://schedulesplus.com/nwsc/kiosk/eventoverview.do?filterschedule_id=2994&orderby=&search= Research studies on Parkinson’s identify poling, with the proper training, as a healthy mode of physical activity suited for improving quality of life. Designed by an OT and a gerontologist, these poles have specialized hand grips that are given the EASE OF USE stamp of approval by the Arthritis Foundation. Learn more as you walk with Kristina, a certified instructor in using Activator Poles, a fall prevention specialist, and a physical therapist for nearly 30 years. This class incorporates a warm-up, walk, and cool-down/stretch. REQUIREMENTS: Please bring a friend/family member with you if you require stand by assist for safe mobility. You and your "spotter" will need to sign a waiver in order to participate. INTENSITY-LEVEL: Low/Moderate. Must be able to walk/stand independently for at least 30 minutes without need for rest. DURATION: Typically 30-40 minutes of movement (e.g., standing, walking, stretching). AT YOUR OWN RISK: By registering and/or participating in this class, you accept full responsibility for any risks, injuries, or damage, known or unknown, that you might incur due to participation. If you do not want to accept full responsibility, do not register or participate.
