Service Description

Use this link to register through Wake Forest RecDesk for the class: https://wakeforestnc.recdesk.com/Community/Program Ever wonder why people in other countries typically use hiking poles when they walk? Are they only used for walking on uneven ground? Do you have to be unsteady to need to use them? Activator Poles(TM) are designed to amplify the exercise or walk you are doing by activating more muscles. Using your upper body as you advance the poles in addition to using your legs as you walk increases the number of calories you burn and the number of muscles you are strengthening. Activator Poles(TM) are used by fully able bodied people and those with movement disorders, instability, and/or pain. Meet in the lobby outside of the exercise rooms to borrow a set of poles for our walk around town. We will start with a warm up before heading outdoors. Dress appropriately for the weather. If we have inclement weather, we will walk indoors at the center. INTENSITY-LEVEL: Low/Moderate. Must be able to walk/stand independently for 30-45 minutes without need for rest. DURATION: Typically 45 minutes of movement (e.g., standing, walking, stretching). AT YOUR OWN RISK: By registering and/or participating in this class, you accept full responsibility for any risks, injuries, or damage, known or unknown, that you might incur due to participation. If you do not want to accept full responsibility, do not register or participate.
